The Lords of Norn, or simply Lords, were extremely powerful creatures that warred over the Isle of Norn before being killed in the year 0 AL by the humanoids of Seyv, Briskain, and Commoil.
Although all 13 Lords were killed, a vestige of each Lord's power took root in the consciousness of the one who dealt the killing blow to it. One who possesses this vestige of power is called a Champion, and in modern Norn, the transfer of this power between humanoids is performed through the Champion Challenge.
